Windowed Wind

Take a listen to this album. Blue Hawaii performed a couple tracks from their newest album a couple weekends ago at the Great Hall as part of the Wavelength music festival.

I danced my heart out. It was an amazing set.

Need to get this album immediately so I can play it over and over again.

Weekend Adventures

Wallflower
This past weekend, my friend Alexis was in town visiting. Being so new to the city, I have yet to spend a weekend bored. There is so much to do, and so much to see in Toronto!

Saturday night, we went to Wallflower, which is an adorable bar with a wonderful atmosphere. The food selection was decent, but what got me was that they served Preseco on tap!

Sunday morning was brunch at one of my most favourite spots, Whippoorwill. They are always playing the best music, from mo-town to fifties jive. Their brunch menu is out of this world!

Sub Rosa has the best vintage selection in the market

And then Sunday afternoon was spent wandering the streets of Kensington Market. For how adorable and great the market is, I haven't spent as much time there as I thought I would have by now. Either way, I enjoyed the friendly baristas and delicious smoothies as Grind House, and the cute boy and top-notch clothing selection at Sub Rosa!

Anything Could Happen

For blue Mondays. March is on the way.

Anticipating Spring

These photos are from my first roll with a half-broken camera. There is so much detail, I'm happy with the outcome.

Petrichor

The winter wind is tiring me, and drying out my skin. Listen to this playlist while hibernating in your room, or hiding under your covers until spring comes.

Remember, it's just a phase

I really needed to be reminded of this today. It's okay to be a 'beginner' for while.

My Friend Goo

My Friend Goo (Beauty Daily December) from Oyster Magazine on Vimeo.

I absolutely love the visual imagery of this video. This is the second video by Rene Vaile that I have seen on Oyster, both of which have peeked my interest.

Take a look at some more of Rene's work here.

The Nowhere Girls

The Nowhere Girls is one of my favourite photoblogs that I turn to for inspiration. Each day, the photo flow is beautiful, working well with its overall aesthetic. In a sea of visual overload, The Nowhere Girls is a great work of collected photographs and images, and I recently chatted with, Chelsea, the creator of this wicked Tumblr who told me a bit about what makes her and The Nowhere Girls tick.

Who is behind The Nowhere Girls?
So far, just myself. Which may seem a bit odd considering the plural name. When I first started the blog and was deciding on a name, I came to this idea that I wanted to be able to reach different people with unique interests. Girls (or guys!) who don't fit into one specific aesthetic or style. They fit in nowhere, yet everywhere.

What occupies your day-to-day? What are you currently working on/working towards?
I currently work on a TV show in Los Angeles which I love doing, but The Nowhere Girls is my baby. Every morning I gather tons of images from blogs, fashion websites, online shops etc., then I decide which images best fit my mood/color theory of the day. Eventually I'd like to expand the blog and build a fashion lifestyle brand around it....stay tuned ;)

Any plans for your Blogspot?
I actually started The Nowhere Girls on Blogspot not long before the Tumblr. But then, I decided that I would begin with just posting images and gain a following with that, which tumblr was great for.
Now that I have a fantastic reader base, I'd definitely like to continue with the Blogspot to dig a bit deeper down into fashion.

Who are your style inspirations?
I have to admit, I find myself most inspired when I'm flipping through random photos from street style blogs. But just to give a visual sense I'll list some specific people always on my radar:
Erin Wasson- for her "stray from the norm" aesthetic. That girl has cool written all over her.
Gillian Zinser- her mix of feminine elements with tomboy edge keeps me intrigued ALWAYS.
Taylor Tomasi Hill- for her adventurous style. Is there anything she doesn't look good in?
Rumi Neely of fashiontoast- her style is always evolving and in the best of ways.

What is your dream job?
My dream job would be to run my own fashion-based company, surrounded by creative people who share the same passion as myself.

Any last words?
I'll end it with one of my favorite quotes on fashion:
"Fashion...for me, is purely and happily irrational." - Heidi Silmane
